got ti'l it's gone.

a beautiful tribute poem for Michael Jackson written by Maya Angelou, recited by Queen Latifah.

WE HAD HIM...
Beloveds, now we know that we know nothing
Now that our bright and shining star can slip away from our fingertips like a puff of summer wind

Without notice, our dear love can escape our doting embrace
Sing our songs among the stars and and walk our dances across the face of the moon

In the instant we learn that Michael is gone we know nothing
No clocks can tell our time and no oceans can rush our tides
With the abrupt absence of our treasure

Though we our many, each of us is achingly alone
Piercingly alone
Only when we confess our confusion can we remember that he was a gift to us and we did have him

He came to us from the Creator, trailing creativity in abundance
Despite the anguish of life he was sheathed in mother love and family love and survived and did not more than that

He thrived with passion and compassion, humor and style
We had him
Whether we knew who he was or did not know, he was our's and we were his
We had him

Beautiful, delighting our eyes
He raked his hat slant over his brow and took a pose on his toes for all of us and we laughed and stomped our feet for him

We were enchanted with his passion because he held nothing
He gave us all he had been given

Today in Tokyo, beneath the Eiffel Tower, in Ghana's Blackstar Square, in Johannesburg, in Pittsburgh, in Birmingham, Alabama and Birmingham England, we are missing Michael Jackson

But we do know that we had him
And we are the world.

i never dreamed you'd leave in summer...

today's memorial service was definitely fit for a King. isn't it weird to cry over someone you've never met before? i feel sad that music will never reach that high again, i feel sad that he had to go through all those things he did in his lifetime, i feel sad for the three beautiful kids he left behind, it's sad because he was suppose to be the 'boy who wouldn't grow up' - to me he was somewhat immortal, i feel sad that the world's Michael Jackson is now gone.

"There was nothing strange about your Daddy, it was strange what your Daddy had to deal with, but he dealt with it... he dealt with it anyway, he dealt with it for us..." - Rev. Al Sharpton

His "Wendy", Brooke Shields referred to her friend as the Little Prince, and spoke about MJ's favourite song 'Smile'. "There is a line in the song that says 'Smile, though your heart is aching. Today, although our hearts are aching, we need to look up where he is undoubtedly perched in a crescent moon and we need to smile."

"The world will never ever forget Michael Jackson." - Smokey Robinson

"Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father I could imagine... I just want to say I love him so much." - Paris Michael Jackson

what Michael did for the world through his music and his charity work is incredible, the legacy he left behind is something to aspire to. it sort of makes me think, what does the fashion industry have to offer the world? hmm that's something to ponder...

more than the King of Pop.

THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US Skin head, dead head / Everybody gone bad / Situation, aggravation / Everybody allegation In the suite, on the news / Everybody dog food / Bang bang, shot dead / Everybody's gone mad ...All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us... Beat me, hate me / You can never break me / Will me, thrill me / You can never kill me Jew me, Sue me / Everybody do me / Kick me, kike me / Don't you black or white me ... All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us... Tell me what has become of my life / I have a wife and two children who love me I am the victim of police brutality, now / I'm tired of bein' the victim of hate / You're rapin' me of my pride / Oh, for God's sake I look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy / Set me free ...Skin head, dead head / Everybody gone bad / Trepidation, speculation / Everybody allegation In the suite, on the news / Everybody dog food / Black man, black mail / Throw your brother in jail ... All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us... Tell me what has become of my rights / Am I invisible because you ignore me? Your proclamation promised me free liberty, now / I'm tired of bein' the victim of shame / They're throwing me in a class with a bad name / I can't believe this is the land from which I came / You know I do really hate to say it / The government don't wanna see But if Roosevelt was livin' / He wouldn't let this be, no, no... Skin head, dead head / Everybody gone bad / Situation, speculation / Everybody litigation Beat me, bash me / You can never trash me / Hit me, kick me / You can never get me ...All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us... Some things in life they just don't wanna see / But if Martin Luther was livin' / He wouldn't let this be... Skin head, dead head / Everybody gone bad / Situation, segregation / Everybody allegation In the suite, on the news / Everybody dog food / Kick me, kike me / Don't you wrong or right me ... All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us All I wanna say is that / They don't really care about us...
